Back in the winters of 2012 and 2013, Vail hosted an event called the Winter Mountain Games. This event celebrated sports, art, and music on the mountain in a uniquely "Vail" way. Despite rave reviews, the event disappeared. Well, after a decade's wait, it is official: the Winter Mountain Games are returning! To get you ready for their official return in winter 2023, they are offering a preview event THIS WEEKEND!
February 25, 26, and 27, the Winter Mountain Games Preview will take place in Vail! Get ready for a great weekend full of competition, art, and lifestyle celebration. There will also be concerts by Low Cut Connie (Feb. 25), Galactic (Feb. 25), Jojo Hermann (Feb. 26), and Moon Taxi (Feb. 26)!
During the games, professional and amateur athletes have the rare opportunity to compete shoulder-to-shoulder. Competitions occurring during the preview are as follows:

Friday, 4:30 p.m. Individual @ Vail Village start, Golden Peak finish
Saturday: 12 p.m. Sprint @ Pepi’s Face/Head First
Sunday, 7:30 a.m. Vertical @ Golden Peak
Bootlegger Hill Climb
Saturday, 4:30 p.m. @ Golden Peak
Snowshoe 10k/5k (dog friendly!)
Saturday, 1 p.m. @ Vail Nordic Center
