Listen Now!

If you want to know the definition of fun, check out the Kids Adventure Games in Vail Aug. 10-14. Children ages 6 to 14 will race and navigate an adventure course throughout the village and on the mountain with biking, tubing on the creek, running, mud pits, low ropes course, zip lines, a giant Slope N' Slide and more.

The Kids Adventure Games originated in Vail seven years ago and now features eight races across the nation with Toyota as the presenting sponsor.

This year, the original Vail race has, once again, been received so enthusiastically that registration for all races and skills clinics are full with wait lists.

That means adults can get in on the action as volunteers, helping with the various obstacles, course marshaling, transition areas and at the start and finish lines.

Approximately 80-100 volunteers are needed each day to assist with a variety of tasks, which will include helping more than 750 young competitors challenge themselves during the five-day event.

Volunteers will receive an official event T-shirt, while supplies last, and socks from national sponsor Darn Tough. Local school groups and non-profit organizations who wish to volunteer will receive a financial donation for having no less than 10 people work during the event. Volunteer shifts are as follows:

Aug. 10-11, 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Assist with athlete check-in and skills clinics. Shorter shifts are available on these days.
Aug. 12-14, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Race day activities including course marshals, timing, athlete check-in, etc. Lunch will be provided for volunteers who sign up for a full shift.

Entry spots are still available for all ages to participate in the Keen Family Mud Run on Saturday, Aug. 13.
