Vail opened some of the legendary Back Bowls on Saturday, including the much-anticipated new high-speed quad chairlift known as the Sun Up Express. The chair used to be known as Chair 17 but is now called Chair 9.
The resort also expanded terrain to include portions of Sun Down Bowl and beginner terrain accessed via Chair 14 Sourdough Express.
Vail is now offering 1,439 acres of skiable terrain for all ability levels, which has to be among the largest amout of open terrain in the Rocky Mountain region.
