Beaver Creek is known for their early season emphasis on snow making, because every year in early December the resort hosts the best skiers in the world for the men's World Cup, which chooses Beaver Creek for the only stop in the U.S. on the annual tour. The course, known as Birds of Prey – North America's Downhill, can be clearly seen gleaming in the sun in the photo above. This season, the Birds of Prey World Cup will begin an expanded focus which aims to create a festival-like atmosphere in the Vail Valley throughout the week that the World Cup is in town December 1st to the 6th.
