Vail is one of the most popular ski resorts in the world, but it isn’t just for adults. There are plenty of family friendly activities which will make a visit to this beautiful area a memorable one for your children as well.

1. Holidaze.

What could be better than taking your kids to Vail for the Christmas season?

Festivities start with the Holidaze, a two day event which takes place on the Winter Solstice. It features a Christmas tree lighting ceremony that adults and kids will find breathtaking, and then there’s the new tradition of the Lantern Walk. Everyone gets to make paper lanterns, and then walk with them up Bridge Street to Mountain Plaza.

Afterwards, kids will enjoy hot chocolate and ice skating!

2. Skiing.

There are plenty of family friendly ski runs at Vail Mountain – that is to say, ski runs where young kids who are just learning how to navigate a bunny slope will be able to ease into the activity on gentle terrain. Beginning skiers in particular will feel comfortable at the base of Golden Peak. There’s also a ski school here.

Of course it’s not only kids that can be beginners, and adults can find their footing on these easy slopes as well. As a matter of fact, kids and parents taking skiing lessons together will build lasting memories.

3. BolVail.

Once the skiing or snowboarding is done for the day, there’s still lots of fun to be had in Vail. Moms will want to go shopping in any one of a hundred boutique shops, while dads can take their kids to BolVail, a ten-lane bowling center and restaurant that is simultaneously quite elegant and a lot of fun for the whole family.

It’s located in Vail Village, and from the outside looks like a regular restaurant.

Inside, there’s ten lanes of bowling fun! Each lane is equipped with bumpers, and balls as light as six pounds for the youngest children. Hours are from 2 pm to 10 pm. Because there are only ten lanes, it is necessary to make advance reservations to go bowling.
