1) Vail has the largest free transit system in the nation.

2) Vail was the first city in the U.S. to have a modern roundabout interchange.

3) Vail has 30 percent of its land dedicated to open space, more than any other resort community in the U.S.



4) Vail's Gore Creek has been designated by the Colorado Wildlife Commission as one of only 11 Gold Medal fishing streams in the state. A Gold Medal fishing streams produces 60 pounds of trout per acre, and at least twelve 14" or larger trout per acre. 

 5) Vail Mountain's 4 percent ski lift tax is the first of its kind in the country and represents the highest contribution level by a ski resort to its municipal partner in the state.

6) The Vail Valley was the first area to host three World Alpine Ski Championships in the U.S.

7) Vail is the first venue to host a New York Philharmonic summer residency outside of the state of New York.

8) Vail has been ranked as a Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists with 15 miles of recreation paths from East Vail to West Vail and hiking and biking trails on Vail Mountain.
